- 5-year LED warranty
Most “the sign is always burning out” calls are fluorescent cabinets running lamps that sign shops no longer stock. We do not keep a fluorescent-tube inventory. If you still have the correct tubes, we can install yours. The lasting fix is usually an LED retrofit that reuses the housing.
A retrofit is the right path when the cabinet, pole, and faces still have life, but the lighting, ballasts, or modules are failing. We inspect the structure, convert illumination to LED in our UL Listed Woodland shop, and can repaint and install new faces in the same visit so you are not paying for a full replacement you do not need.
This is everyday work for us across Washington and Oregon — not a sideline. Send photos of the existing sign and the job address so the first call is a real next step.
“He later changed an old sign to LED which eliminated our almost constant bulb burn outs. If you are looking for 5 star signs, call Dave!”

When Retrofit Beats Replacement
Keep the steel you already paid for. Change the light, the faces, and the finish.

Sound cabinet, dead lamps
Pole signs and storefront cabinets that still stand plumb but flicker, go dark, or chew through fluorescent tubes. We convert the light engine and can install new faces and paint in one project.

Channel letters still good
Letters that look right from the parking lot but fail internally. We retrofit LED modules and power supplies, often reusing the housings and raceway.

Fluorescent tubes you cannot buy
Many sign-grade fluorescent lamps are discontinued. Sign shops, including us, do not stock them. Customer-supplied tubes are a stopgap. LED conversion ends the hunt.

When we will not retrofit
Rusted-through cabinets, unsafe wiring, or a structure that no longer meets the city’s size or setback rules. We would rather quote a new sign than sell a conversion that fails inspection.
Neon Repair vs Neon-to-LED
We still repair neon — window neon, OPEN signs, script, transformers, and glass — including neon we did not originally install. See neon repair. If you want lower maintenance or the jurisdiction prefers LED, we will compare a conversion honestly instead of talking you out of neon you wanted to keep.
How a Retrofit Goes
Photos & site
Daytime shot of the cabinet or letters, plus a night shot if anything still lights. Address matters for electrical and lift access.
Inspect the housing
We check structure, wiring, faces, and whether paint or new faces should ride along so you are not paying for two truck rolls.
Convert in the shop or on site
LED modules, power supplies, and wiring done to the same standard as new fabrication in our UL Listed shop. WA & OR 04 Electrical Journeyman crew.
Relight & warranty
We reinstall, test, and back applicable work with 1-year labor, 5-year LED, and 2-year power supply.
